Ann Kauzlarich (Ms. Ann)
We are fortunate to have a wonderful teacher full of enthusiasm and dedicated to her profession.
Ms. Ann has been with TLC since 1999 and we appreciate her more
each year!
A Note from Ms. Ann:
Little did I know that when I graduated in 1975 from Elmira
College (in New York State) that I was embarking on a career
that would span over 30 years and continues to fulfill and
excite me to this day.
In New York State, I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in
English with my certificate in teaching 7th through 12th grade
English.
I began teaching Junior High School in Binghamton,
NY.
Eventually, my first husband and I moved to Kingston, NY and I
took time off for our children. When my children were old
enough for preschool, I chose a co-operative preschool that had
an older teacher - Mrs. Stubbs- who had been teaching
FOREVER! I fell in love with her and the school. I
helped out twice a month when my son was going to preschool and
when my twin daughters went I helped out four times a
month! It was fabulous!
Once my daughters were in Kindergarten, I started looking at
going back to teaching and finding a Masters Program I would
like. I enrolled in the State University of NY at New
Paltz for a Masters in Remedial Reading and began substitute
teaching in both Elementary and Secondary Schools around
Kingston. I landed a long term job teaching Kindergarten
for a teacher who was taking time off for the year and fell in
love again! In 1992 I received a teaching certificate for
Nursery, Kindergarten & Grades 1-6 from the State of New
York.
After teaching several years in Kingston and Onteora public
school systems, I was hired and began teaching in a
private Montessori school in Kingston. The director,
another teacher and myself worked as a team-sharing information
and talents.
I enjoyed this work tremendously. I was asked to start
and develop a Kindergarten class for the school and found that
extremely satisfying.
Who would have thought that in 1994 I would have made the
decision to travel across the country to Bend, Oregon! I
had a younger sister and family who lived here and I was
divorced and excited to start a new life. My husband
today, Greg Miller, followed me out from New York and now we
have two super grandchildren with my daughter and her husband
living here in Bend, too!
In 1999, The Little Cloverdale Preschool hired me as their new
teacher. Yes, I fell in love again! I continue to
take courses at COCC in Education and am interested in all
sorts of workshops in the field of teaching. I have been
blessed to find my passion!
Sincerely,
"Ms. Ann" Kauzlarich
